Ginkgo seeds of Hibaku-Jumoku started a new home at the State Arboretum of Virginia, well known for its ginkgos, including a grove of over 300 individuals attracting visitors to a large geographic area to see the foliage. The institute has a history of focusing on using radiation to mutate plants to create new agricultural varieties. The Hiroshima trees will be planted on the former site of the radiation pit at the facility and will convey Hiroshima's A-bombed experience as well as the history of the institution.
