GLH regional hub at CAFRE partners bring tidings of a new home for Platanus orientalis:
The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, and, his wife Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh planted a pair of Green Legacy Hiroshima Oriental Plane trees on the grounds of Hillsborough Castle which is the royal residence in Northern Ireland.
"Hillsborough Castle and Gardens is a place where important conversations have taken place, where peace has been discussed and where we will continue to reach further working with partners, mean more to our visitors and act for the future making a positive impact on the planet. We share the hope that the unique survivor trees of Hiroshima represent, and as they grow and flourish in the gardens visitors will stop and take a minute to reflect on their beauty and resilience."
- Claire Woods, Head Gardener at Hillsborough Castle
