Photos taken by Christophe Crock, Head Gardener of the Wespelaer Arboretum. 4/10 seeds have germinated. Photos show that these seeds did not have an embryo. Special thanks to dedicated partner Marie-Noëlle Cruysmans for keeping us updated.

Marie-Noëlle Cruysmans of Nouvelles de Jardins magazine has kept us updated about the beautiful ginkgos in Hougoumont Garden.

"Of the 10 seeds received, 3 germinated quickly.

A fourth sprouted later.

Three seeds seem uncertain, having failed the first germination test.

They have all been planted under the supervision of Christophe Crock at the Wespelaar Arboretum."

A ginkgo seed was planted on the site of the Battle of Waterloo! We wish to thank all those who made this planting possible: Yukiko Van Cauwenberghe, Marie-Noëlle Cruysmans, Alexander de Vos van Steenwijk, David Dowd and James Ross at CAFRE, the GLH regional hub in Northern Ireland, among many. We hope the ginkgo will grow into a gentle giant on this symbolic and historic site, under the care of Christophe Crock, head gardener of the Wespelaer Arboretum and Herkenrode Great Garden.

We are happy to introduce our new partners at The Friends of the Gardens of Hougoumont in Brussels, Belgium. Our focal point, Alexander de Vos van Steenwijk, shared a brochure describing this impressive project, the Hougoumont Peace Gardens. Many thanks to our colleagues at CAFRE, for mobilizing swiftly for seed dispatch.
