The latest entry in the Oberlin Shansi "Moments of..." series, "Moments of Reflection: Green Legacy Hiroshima" invites you on a walk among the Hiroshima trees that survived the 1945 atomic bomb blast. Oberlin Shansi Senior Director Ted Samuel joins Green Legacy Hiroshima co-founder Nassrine Azimi and Shansi Fellow Ben Echikson OC'22 as they share their reflections on the meaning of resilience and survival, the links between peace and nature, and how the trees of Hiroshima can inspire us to consider what contributes to peace today. Green Legacy Hiroshima — Renowned American Scientists Visit Hiroshima’s Survivor Trees
In early November 2022, GLH had the pleasure to host plant scientists and botanic garden experts from renowned institutions in the United States, who visited Hiroshima to observe and study the Hibakujumoku firsthand. The delegation included Ari Novy from the San Diego Botanic Garden (and a member of GLH Committee), Todd Michael and Wolfgang Busch from the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Nicole Cavender from the Huntington Botanical Gardens, and Philip Douglas from the Denver Botanic Gardens.
