SDGs Woman Festa
Wakasa-cho is a city at the forefront of efforts to integrate principles and practices of SDG into citizens’ lives. Dr. Azimi, joined in the discussions by the artists Akiko and Tamura Meimi, emphasized in her remarks the local as well as global nature of the Green Legacy Hiroshima campaign. She described becoming familiar with the region through a trip earlier this year to Wakasa-cho’s Varve Museum, a remarkable complex built by the architect Naito Hiroshi and which houses the world’s most complete exhibition of sediment layers (varves) from a nearby lake, accumulated over 70,000 years.
Next to this temple of science is a small but exceptional Jomon Museum that presents the life of Japan’s early peaceful settlers, thought to have lived accross this territory for almost 10,000 years, and who are often referred to as early SDG emissaries!
