Exhibition at Harvard Graduate School of Design Starring Hibakujumoku: "Front Door: Dialogue for Our Future on Planet Earth"

From April 12th through April 15th, 2023, the Harvard Graduate School of Design held a symposium and exhibition called “Front Door: Dialogue for Our Future on Planet Earth” aimed at raising awareness of environmental challenges and advocating for a future both peaceful and sustainable. The exhibition was held at the Pavilion named after Kenzo Tange, the architect of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Nobuhiro Mitsuoka, a fellow at Harvard and one of the main organizers of the event, had made the trip to the San Diego Botanic Garden to bring Hibakujumoku seeds back to Boston — the Hiroshima trees being part of the event’s theme of nature’s resilience and global peace. GLH is grateful to our partners at the San Diego Botanic Garden, who were able to provide hibakujumoku seeds on short notice, and looks forward to an ongoing partnership with Mr. Mitsuoka and his colleagues at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
