June 2016:

Although some thought Kabul’s weather is too dry, its altitude too high (at 1800 meters, one of the world’s highest capitals), and its facilities inadequate for taking care of ginkgo saplings, thanks to the dedicated gardeners the saplings are flourishing. 

October 2012:

Thanks to GLH partners in Afghanistan, led by Dr. Naseri of the Agha Khan Foundation, the trees are doing well. Pictured below are the sturdy and thriving gingko saplings in Kabul.
